Stephen Lee Mowat (MA, PGDip) is a graduate of Sociology and Electronic Information Management from the Universities of Aberdeen and The Robert Gordon University. Stephen Lee is a self taught artist and has been drawing and painting for the past 15 years, exhibiting and selling work around the North East of Scotland including the New Pitsligo Visual Arts exhibition (2000) where he was awarded best of category, and commended recognition for pencil drawing.

Stephen Lee’s work is unique in its attention to detail, and represents subjects as they appear to the naked eye. His strength is in pencil drawing, photography and more recently has begun working with acrylic. Stephen Lee has been motivated to co-found the North East Art collective as a means to allow artists with different styles and strengths to combine their work for public exhibition. His inspiration is drawn from the natural world and human architecture. Stephen Lee hopes to expand his exposure of artistic inspiration from Europe to Asia and South America. Currently he is teaching English as a foreign language in Indonesia.

Stephen Lee has taken an interest in politics since Scottish devolution and is a regular contributor to the Democratic Green Socialist online magazine.
